About TimbreSpace

TimbreSpace originated from the groundbreaking work of William Brent on TimbreIDLib and Pure Data (PD) from 2009 forward. These tools laid the foundation for advanced audio analysis and timbre identification.

Later, Carl Moore collaborated with William Brent during his master’s research project at American University, where they explored timbre interaction and real-time spatial audio synthesis.

In 2024, Kaliane Van joined to guide the vision and strategy of TimbreSpace. Van actively drives business and product development while providing hands-on engineering support.

Over time, TimbreSpace evolved with developments for Meta Oculus Rift and Quest (2018) and continued innovation in XR platforms, leveraging advancements in audio and virtual environments.

The SpatialHub team is led by Carl Moore (website) and Kaliane Van (website), who bring a powerful combination of technical expertise, creative vision, and leadership. SpatialHub is the startup company founded by Carl and Kaliane, and TimbreSpace is its first and flagship product.

Carl Moore (He/Him)
Carl Moore is a versatile software engineer and creative technologist with expertise in extended reality (XR) development, game design, signal processing, and AI research. He holds a Master’s in Audio Technology and a Bachelor’s in Audio Production from American University in Washington, DC.

Kaliane Van (They/She)
Kaliane Van is a Seattle-based visual artist, music producer, dancer, and software developer with a degree in Audio Technology from Fairhaven College, Western Washington University. They further honed their technical expertise by studying computer science and full-stack development at Ada Developers Academy.
